Milan Nestarec

Nach 2021 (1 litre)

In the same way that many of my favourite things to consume as a child were mysteriously 'blue' flavoured, this wine can only be described as tasting like 'purple' (but without the E numbers). Nach, meaning 'purple' in Czech, is a Blaufränkisch based blend, born out of Nesterac's desire to make a "normal, juicy Moravian red", the traditional style of the region before the trend for bigger reds came along towards the end of the last century. And if the nostalgia of thinking back to when your favourite things tasted like colours wasn't enough, the plump 1L bottle's shape and crown is a nod to Milan's own childhood, when he used to buy beer or juice in such containers.

That’s Before Milan Nestarec & Anno Domini. Not to say that he is the reincarnation of Christ. But he did show the way for many who today make Eastern Europe one of the world’s most exciting & vibrant wine regions ...
