Hoch Family
Christoph Hoch is the mastermind behind some of Europe’s most thought provoking sparkling wines.
Early in his life he discovered that Hollenburg (his home village) was a geological anomaly to most of Austria’s terroir and that the soil types were incredibly similar to the chalky conglomerate soils found in the famed Côte de Blanc in Champagne. This sparked an enthusiasm and ambition to make sparkling wines that can rival some of the greatest names in the business and fast forward today he is considered a rising star across the globe.
Together with his family, they produce a variety of styles always searching for perfect balance of fruit, texture and poise.
HEINRICH
Starting off with only one hectare in 1990, Gernot and Heike Heinrich have grown this beautiful estate to close to 100 hectares, all biodynamically farmed and hand harvested.
The Heinrich’s and their wines quickly received recognition as some of the finest wines coming out of Central Europe, but as their personal taste and beliefs changed, they went from mainly fruity, structured and classic reds, to fully converting the estate to biodynamic farming, low intervention winemaking yielding wines with
energy and drinkability.
Not all their previous clients and importers appreciated this change, but today Heinrich is once again recognised as one of the thought-leading winemakers in Austria and a benchmark grower in the world of wine.
BIBICH
Just north of Split, not far from the Mediterranean coast, you find the stunning vineyards of Bibich winery. With steep hills, 1000 islands and countless Game of Thrones filming
locations, the Dalmatian coast is ideal for making beautiful structures and fruity wines.
Bibich winery is one the most acclaimed and oldest estates in the country with a history of winemaking dating back to the 15th century. Many of the century old vineyards were
destroyed during the Balkan war but Alen Bibich took it upon himself to restore the estate to its previous glory.
Today his son Filip continues to work with nature to create some of the finest wines sailing off the Dalmatian coast to quench the thirst of people like yourself.
NITTNAUS
In the eastern part of Austria, on the northern shore of Lake Neusiedl, you find the little town of Gols. Almost on every street corner you find a winery. Hans & Anita Nittnaus have run the estate since 1985 and the last 15 years have been biodynamically certified.
Their two sons Andreas and Martin have now joined forces with their cousin Lydia to take the next step into low and no intervention winemaking. Their wines continue to rank among the most renowned wines in Austria, always with a great fruit profile and packed with a unique juicy freshness.
