About us

“Future classics in the making. Wines made by people and nature working together.”

Newcomer Wines started in 2014 because we wanted to shed light on a generation of growers nobody in the UK was talking about, beginning in Austria and Central Europe. We've never built our portfolio on classic brands or famous regions — we build it on people: winemakers and agriculturists we genuinely believe in, who are quietly changing what farming looks like for the better. That same instinct took us into France early too, backing names like Domaine Chantereves in Burgundy, Matassa in Roussillon, and Aurélien Lurquin in Champagne back when barely anyone outside the trade had heard of them — some of the most talked-about winemakers around today. We've always moved a few steps ahead of where the industry is looking, and we've never been afraid to take risks to get there.

A few years ago we launched Kamptal Kollektiv, and later Stajerska Kollektiv — projects with established, forward-thinking winemakers who help their neighbours convert to organic farming, buying their grapes at a premium and turning them into honest, everyday wines. It's proof that the future of our industry isn't only in high-end boutique bottlings — it's also in projects with the scale to change farming for good. Our bigger vision is to change agriculture: to build a new generation of consumers who want wine that's genuinely high quality, flavourful, and sustainable, and that leaves a positive impact on the communities that make it — from famous names like Burgundy to off-the-beaten-path places like Stajerska in Slovenia or Württemberg in Germany.

If you follow @newcomer_wines, you'll see this show up in how we talk: we don't write about wine like it's a product on a shelf, we write about the people who make it — their journeys, their vineyards, why we're genuinely excited — the way you'd tell a friend. That's the voice you'd be picking up and running with.

About the role

We're looking for someone to help us tell this story well — across content, social media, newsletters, and partnerships. This is an early-career marketing role: direction, priorities, tone, and strategy come from our founder, our Head of Business Development & Sales, and our Wine Bar & Shop General Manager. Your job is to take that direction and execute it brilliantly — planning and creating great content, keeping our channels running, and helping build the partnerships that bring in new business.

We're less interested in someone who arrives with a fixed personal style or a strong pre-formed take on how things should be done, and much more interested in someone sharp, adaptable, and quick to learn our voice, our wines, and our customers. You'll get hands-on exposure to every part of the business and real mentorship from people who've spent years building this brand.

What you'll be doing

  • Planning and shooting a monthly photo and video content calendar — new arrivals, bottle highlights, events, and membership content — and editing it yourself, including short-form video for Instagram and other channels.
  • The role will take ownership of the day-to-day social media and PR activity across the trade side of the business, managing it end-to-end — from content creation, planning and scheduling through to posting, captions, newsletters and copywriting.
You will also support the development and delivery of social and content activity across the Winebar & Shop at 5 Dalston Lane and our B2C online store, ensuring a consistent and engaging brand presence across all channels.
  • Contributing to the running of our website and Shopify store, including membership pages.
  • Supporting brand collaborations, trade partnerships, and press outreach — helping identify good-fit partners, drafting outreach, and following relationships through, guided by the team on who to approach and how.
  • Helping share our story publicly — supporting press and partner-facing communications, guided by the team on tone and messaging as you learn our voice.
  • Picking up our priorities each month — across trade, retail, and membership — and turning them into consistent content across every channel.
  • Contributing to our quarterly podcast and staying closely connected to what's happening across the business day to day.

How the month runs

  • A weekly content rhythm across the grid and stories — spotlighting new arrivals, winemakers, trade partners, and events.
  • A monthly content plan agreed with the team early in the month, alongside a look at partnership and press opportunities worth chasing.
  • Two newsletters a month — “trade” and “bar, shop and online shop” — each planned a few days ahead of time to be ready for sending..
  • At least one active brand or trade partnership in motion at any time, from outreach through to execution.
  • A short monthly look-back on what worked (content performance, newsletter engagement, partnership outcomes) to sharpen the next month's plan.

What we're looking for

  • Strong instincts for photo, video, and writing — you don't need years of experience, but you need real craft and a good eye.
  • Curious about the culture behind wine — natural and grower wine especially — and genuinely excited to build real expertise on the job, rather than arriving with fixed opinions.
  • Comfortable taking direction and feedback, and quick to adapt your style to match ours.
  • Reliable and organised — you can take a brief and run with it, keeping projects moving without needing to be chased.
  • Some comfort with Shopify or a similar CMS, or a willingness to learn it quickly.
  • Confident enough to represent the brand with press and partners once you know our voice, even if that's not day one.

Hours & pay

This role is 3 days a week (24 hrs/week) at £30,000pa. As our B2C and B2B sales channels continue to grow, there's a clear path for this to become a full-time role — we're building this hire for where the business is heading, not just where it is today.

What we offer

  • Staff rates on our wines across the wine shop.
  • Regular tastings and direct exposure to our growers and portfolio.
  • Real creative work from day one — you'll shape how the brand looks and sounds, guided by people who know exactly what we're going for.
  • Close mentorship from our founder, our Head of Business Development & Sales, and our Wine Bar & Shop General Manager, and hands-on exposure to every part of the business.
  • Standard entitlement of annual leave based on agreed hours of work.
