Martin, Carole & David Léclapart

Champagne, France

Meet Martin, David, Carole and Leo Léclapart — a family that needs little to no introduction in the universe of grower champagne.

Back in the late 1990s David and Carole had the vision to make champagnes that would be naturally balanced with no dosage — making wines ‘Brut Nature’. Discussing with early organic pioneers at the time they were considered foolish and naive but with patience and conviction they proved that their ‘house style’ was a solution that would prove to be a way forward for a whole generation of growers today.

More than 20 years later their wines are synonymous for some of Champagnes’ greatest expression of Chardonnay with a handful of blends also including Pinot Noir. Their parcels are scattered around Trepail — amphelographically considered ‘an island of Chardonnay’ surrounded by an ocean of Pinot Noir — the traditional variety of the surrounding Crus of Ambonnay and Bouzy.

Since the 2020 vintage David and Carole’s oldest son Martin officially joined the domaine and now leads the winery alongside his parents. Since 2023 he has been entirely responsible for all Coteaux Champenois cuvées which will be released for the first time this year.

After years of not being available in the UK we are over the moon to now exclusively represent the Léclapart’s and their iconic wines.

'I think that wine is a particular drink. It's not just a drink ... it's a sacred drink. I think it allows human beings to access different states of consciousness.
