Laika 2020
With grapes coming from one of the first Sauvignon Blanc vineyards planted in the area back in the 1950s, Laika was a venture into the unknown for Pierre Menard. Grapes from these vines had previously never been vinified alone, meaning he had no idea what sort of wine it would create – in his own words, "it was a bit like sending Laika into space. But thankfully, this version has a much happier ending.” Bright honeydew melon on the nose, a fresh minerality, and a soft round texture makes this cuvée almost reminiscent of some of his Chenin Blancs – a must-try for any Loire fans!
