Welschriesling 2014

Made from 100% Welschriesling - a high acid white grape that produces crisp and mineral wines. The grapes come from three different vineyards, each one with its own distinctive soil composition. The Deutsch-Schützen is loamy, the Eisenberg rich in iron, and the Csaterberg site is comprised of a unique sweet water opal based soil.

The grapes come from 25—45 year old vines, and are kept on the skins for 4 hours before being fermented and aged in steel to preserve freshness and the delicate aroma of the fruit.

This Blaufränkisch is named in honour of Christoph’s grandparents - Bela and Joska, and is a testament to Christoph’s commitment to preserving the local winemaking tradition.

The Blaufränkisch grapes comes from the iron rich, loamy soils of Eisenberg. This wine is organically farmed and spontaneously fermented in steel tanks, pressed after 14-18 days, and aged in 1000-3000 litre oak barrels for 15 months. This is a classic expression of Blaufränkisch, showing a wealth of dark fruit, minerality and spice.

'Alte Reben' Welschriesling 2014

This old vine Welschriesling comes from a number of different parcels around the Eisenberg hill. Made from 40-80 year old vines, this wine has more textural depth and richness than the straight Welschriesling from Christoph.

Beautifully spiced, with hints of dried fruit, this is a more exotic white wine that still maintains all the freshness and acidity you would expect from the Welschriesling variety.

This wine was spontaneously fermented and aged for a year in old oak barrels before bottling.
